Music & Festivals

Some of us just can’t live without music. For many, music is the engine that nurtures and balances our very existence.

Portugal is well known for its many music festivals, which makes fans want to come back again and again in search of excitement and fun. Between May and October, there are festivals all across the country covering a wide range of musical genres, such as Folk, Indie, Rock, Jazz, Electronic, Classic, World Music or the exclusively Portuguese Fado. All venues are perfectly merged within an idyllic landscape and work seamlessly with the cities and towns they’re located in.

Some of the most notorious festivals are the Vodafone Paredes de Coura, the NOS Primavera Sound in Porto, the EDP Cool Jazz in Cascais, the NOS Alive or the Rock in Rio in Lisbon.

But there are many, many more. Like the Neopop in Viana do Castelo, Músicas do Mundo in Sines, Cem soldos in Tomar or the Mimo in Amarante – plenty of festivals expressing a myriad of sounds and vibes adding to the warmth and rhythm of the Portuguese Summer. There is music all year round. In the most unexpected Sites, music happens: in small Theatres, Churches, Palaces or Gardens in events throughout the year.

When the music isn’t on, it’s time to taste the local delicacies, enjoy a glass of wine, discover the region, walk around and feel happy! Portugal loves music and happy people. And so do we.
