Portuguese Cuisine is rich in both flavours and character. Each region has its own traditions, culture, gastronomy, local produce and landscapes – individual regional identities that want to be discovered.
When it comes to wine, Portugal benefits from a vast and diverse heritage. From north to south you can find world renowned high quality wine, with surprising and distinguished flavours that match perfectly with century-old popular dishes.
we start off in Minho, a region watered with the freshness of the Atlantic, abundant in lush vegetation, home of the unique vinho Verde. This is a soft, elegant and aromatic wine that can be tasted in one of the many wine estates and manors of this Wine Demarcated region.
It’s in the Upper Douro, first officially Demarcated Wine region in the world, where the famous Port Wine is made – as well as excellent table wines. A landscape of remarkable beauty, comprised of terraced vineyards built on hill sides looking towards the majestic Douro River. This region is a UNESCO classified World Heritage Site.
The Alentejo is a hot and dry region, with plains that extend as far as the eye can see, where vineyards live together with dense cork-oak forests and olive groves. In 2014, USA Today considered it to be the best wine region in the world.
There are more than the ones we mentioned. Enotourism is flourishing in Portugal and every wine region is very well prepared to welcome and showcase the best of their wines, culture and gastronomy. So are we.
